KYOPO | Multiplicity is a 60 minute performance that translates The KYOPO Project into a multimedia, multisensory experience that incorporates large scale projections, modern dance and composed music played by a live chamber orchestra.

KYOPO produced (2004-2009) profiles 240 people of Korean ancestry both through photographic and textual portraits, most who are American citizens. The project is a platform where individuals express their relationships with both their ancestry and culture of citizenship. KYOPO also encases the following issues: mixed races, adoption, Asians in politics, Asians in entertainment, transnational identities, etc. What started as an exploration of the Korean and American culture came to encompass a global one incorporating the Brazilian, Canadian, Danish, French, Japanese and Norwegian culture to name a few. The performance dissects the individual and the collective experience and its relationship to the evolution of identity and culture.

The music addresses philosophical issues concerning language and nationality. It also opens a debate to the understanding of a culture through music, and how languages such as the "mother tongue" open a subjective understanding of creativity. KYOPO: Multiplicity investigates how culture and Asian traditions survive, expand and evolve abroad.

KYOPO | Multiplicity is created by the following major collaborators: CYJO, Dr. Anthony Paul De Ritus, Chair of Music at Northeastern University, Dr. Benoit Granier, Professor at The Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Dana Tai Soon Burgess, founder of DTSB & Co and Chair of Theater and Dance at George Washington University. The performance was launched at The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery's Portraits After 5 in May 2012.
